Stockton College and the Noyes Museum partner with ArtC to bring ?world-class photography extravaganza to Galloway April 4 & 5.
Local photographers ? both professionals and hobbyists ? will have the opportunity of a lifetime on Wednesday and Thursday, April 4 and 5, inside the new Campus Center at Stockton College, located in Galloway. ?
A special presentation from ArtC ? an organization dedicated to promoting the arts in southern New Jersey ? in partnership with the Noyes Museum of Art and Stockton College, Photo SJ 2012 will showcase two of the world?s most accomplished and respected professional photographers: John Russo and Seth Resnick.?
Both Russo and Resnick are world-class visual artists.?
?I could not be more pleased to bring this level of photography education to the region,? says Bill Horin, founder and director of ArtC. ?The work is simply mind-blowing. John is a master of lighting and one of the finest living portrait photographers. Seth is a master of color and creating dramatic images from the natural world. We are privileged to have them share tips, tricks and advice.??
The two-day event will feature workshops and presentations by Russo, Resnick and other working photographers and visual artists from the area, including Horin, a professional photog of 30-plus years and Stockton junior Frank Weiss, an area-photog and filmmaker who recently had his own showcase at the Noyes premiering his documentary film, The Road Is Coming.?
Admission to the Photo SJ 2012 workshops and meet-and greets are affordable and there are tuition discounts available for students, working photographers and members of the American Society of Media Photographers. Russo?s and Resnick?s evening presentations are free and open to the public.?
The two-day event will allow attendees to discover ?secrets of commercial photography success,? ?learn new techniques in composition, lighting and editing,? and network with photographers from throughout the region, according to Horin.?
While the two-day showcase is intended for both professional and aspiring photographers, artists and designers, it is really for everyone with an interest in visual media, stresses Horin.?
?In my experience, getting the opportunity to spend time with photographers of this caliber normally requires a trip to a major city,? says Horin. ?We put this program together to give photographers and other artists in the region a chance to learn from the best without the travel.??
Horin will also be conducting a workshop with Weiss, which will focus on techniques for harnessing the power of new-generation digital SLR technology for cinematic video production.?
Russo, (who photographed Jeff Bridges, right)?a Ventnor native, is among Hollywood?s most requested portrait photographers. ?
After graduating from Stockton College, Russo pursued fashion photography in Miami. But it wasn?t until he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue the field of portrait photography that he got his first big break. ?
A publicist approached him about doing a photo shoot of then-obscure actor Josh Hartnett. Since then, Russo has shot numerous celebs, including Jeff Bridges, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Will Smith, Sophia Loren. His photos can often be seen on the covers of popular magazines.?
Resnick, who teaches and lectures around the world, is also one of North America?s most respected photographers. His images have been published in 2,500 publications, including National Geographic.
A co-founder of D-65, the educational resource for digital photography, Resnick also does consulting for manufacturers, software developers and agencies around the globe. ?
